On Friday 6th March people travelled far and wide to Lindsey School in order to watch a Talent Show competition to raise funds for Fusion Youth Theatre’s trip to Japan. Prizes and trophies were given to competitors by guest judges and by the audience’s vote. Guest judges included Actor/Writer/Director/Mastermind Andy Evans, ex-FYT member and current Drama Uni student Tim Henton and Dance Coach Kerry Ward. Raffle and refreshments were gorged upon and entertainment was enjoyed by all, not only from the competitors themselves but also by compere Gracie Mason who did a splendid job at introducing all of the acts.
The audience and judges must have had a hard time grading a whole host of different acts, from Global Twirlers to Dramatic Monologues but by the end of the night there were two much deserved winning acts: Holly Hockaday, who won the judges’ vote with her rendition of the song ‘The Blower’s Daughter’ (originally by Damien Rice) as well as Sonia Chauhan and Rachel Twomey who performed a dance piece to Lily Allen’s ‘Fear’. Holly had a lovely voice with good resonance and emotion, whilst Sonia and Rachel did a wonderful dance which was perfectly in time, complete with quirky props and moves.
There can only be one winner… Okay two in this case, but shush! However other acts do deserve a mention, who could forget Charlotte Adams’ rendition of ‘Part of that world’ from the awesome Disney film ‘The Little Mermaid’ or Charlotte Parkins’ wonderful interpretation of a dramatic monologue written by Gracie, the compere herself, which had an unexpected ending being revealed by a very flustered and hyperventilating lady. Fun and laughter was had by all and it was overall a very good night, even if Charlotte Adams seemed to have all the luck and managed to win most of the raffle prizes! Thanks must go to a wonderful audience and some wonderful talent!
Over and out,
