for not writing last week,
even with a letter from the younger group, when I wasnt there.
i still didnt manage a blog, so i apologise!
but lets talk about this week.
Sponge fun!
give a kid a cut sponge;to balance and squidge and make shapes, the imgaination you result with is awesome!
it was fantastic, with great team work too!
there were buildings made and balancing acts too!
in the second group, a short story was made from objects emma had bought in,
a comb, photo graph, pen, torch and teddy.
and we got a lovesick teenage boy, wanting to tell two girls his true feelings?!
with some fanastic short scenes made in twos,
we really got to see what this boy was like!

Pulling the trick out of the bag!
So were on our third Thursday, everyones getting comfortable, and everyones coming out their shells!
with lots of new people too, with the young class doubling in size, and a few new faces in the older group.
The younger group were pulling props out of a bag and making characters around them!
It seemed to be all scary, including witches and masked monsters! I don't know about them, but I certainly had nightmares:P
The second group had some fun! with acting games building up ideas and confidences! We also did a scene were an action had to be repeated over and over, but someone else had to come in the scene. Completely improvised, it showed how well everyone worked together and off other people's ideas!
I enjoyed this week, everyone seems so into it giving a 100%. it's a shame i cant make this Thursday, but with the dance group performing, it's impossible!
but i'll update the week after!

Let's go to Japan.
It is 21 days, 7 hours, 22 minutes and 57 seconds
until FYT leave for Japan :)
There was a small meeting for participants of the trip last night at the central hall to discuss, well anything anyone had any queries about. Everyone needs to check (if you plan on taking one) that their mobiles phones work in Japan because apparently alot don't :\ Also Emma is taking her laptop and if anyone else is thinking of taking theirs you need to let her know, because there is no point in everyone taking one :) If anyone was wondering about plugs, ask gracie, because I cannot remember what she said. A few sheets were given out with other various details which you've either already got or will be given sometime in the near future. Can everyone let us know if they can go to Universal Studies sometime soon aswell because only four people have given there slips back D: Thank youu.
Another fundraiser was held last night,
THE QUIZ NIGHT.
so firstly well done to Taylors for being the overall winners.
There was a lot of controversy over one particular question, the one about what non mechanical sport reaches the highest speeds (or words to that effect)? That will be a forever argued answer 8-) someone find out :)
well done to people who won the raffles aswell,
bouncy castle at the loveshack anyone?
I think overall it was a fun night.
EVERYONE remember: morrisons bag packing this saturday, recruit as many people as possible because we need all the help we can get :)
Also,me and Jasmine are doing the triathlon on sunday, does anyone else want to join in it's proper not too late and get sponsored.
anyone send me any pictures from saturday?

Talent Competition Night!
On Friday 6th March people travelled far and wide to Lindsey School in order to watch a Talent Show competition to raise funds for Fusion Youth Theatre’s trip to Japan. Prizes and trophies were given to competitors by guest judges and by the audience’s vote. Guest judges included Actor/Writer/Director/Mastermind Andy Evans, ex-FYT member and current Drama Uni student Tim Henton and Dance Coach Kerry Ward. Raffle and refreshments were gorged upon and entertainment was enjoyed by all, not only from the competitors themselves but also by compere Gracie Mason who did a splendid job at introducing all of the acts.
The audience and judges must have had a hard time grading a whole host of different acts, from Global Twirlers to Dramatic Monologues but by the end of the night there were two much deserved winning acts: Holly Hockaday, who won the judges’ vote with her rendition of the song ‘The Blower’s Daughter’ (originally by Damien Rice) as well as Sonia Chauhan and Rachel Twomey who performed a dance piece to Lily Allen’s ‘Fear’. Holly had a lovely voice with good resonance and emotion, whilst Sonia and Rachel did a wonderful dance which was perfectly in time, complete with quirky props and moves.
There can only be one winner… Okay two in this case, but shush! However other acts do deserve a mention, who could forget Charlotte Adams’ rendition of ‘Part of that world’ from the awesome Disney film ‘The Little Mermaid’ or Charlotte Parkins’ wonderful interpretation of a dramatic monologue written by Gracie, the compere herself, which had an unexpected ending being revealed by a very flustered and hyperventilating lady. Fun and laughter was had by all and it was overall a very good night, even if Charlotte Adams seemed to have all the luck and managed to win most of the raffle prizes! Thanks must go to a wonderful audience and some wonderful talent!
Over and out,

Chomp gets a kick!
Well, Wednesday night was an action packed night wasn‘t it guys, we had a William Ilkley come in and show us stage combat for the evening, those who missed it, not to name any, (Kristian) missed out on a great opportunity. We got taught NINJA moves! Well I suppose that is a little exaggerated, but William still showed us some great fight moves to use on stage.
He taught us how to use the stage and in what positions to stand to make the moves look real, he showed us how to react to the blows we took, ( we didn’t really but don’t let the audience know) and he also showed us how to make the actions look real without hurting anyone. He taught us how to punch, slap, kick, pull hair, and for all you bullies, how to slam heads on tables, sounds pretty ninja to me. The night was extremely fun to everybody, unfortunately if you missed out, better luck next time, hopefully he will come down again, using his own time, just for us, very generous, ( it’s because we are so good). Can’t wait to fit it into our fight scenes in Chomp, the audience will be blown away!

Reflections
Reflections
The film reflections is pretty much finished all we have left to film are a couple of scenes with Kasey and Charli.
Today we filmed the scenes in the youth club and we also filmed the scenes with Beth and Kasey at Steph’s house, we also filmed scenes with Charli, Aidan and Kasey, it was all good fun and we got a lot done and it didn’t take much time either which was good.
I can’t wait for the whole film to be finished so we can see what the final thing looks like. Everyone has gotten stuck in and its been such a laugh.

Settlin' in.
ooh, another hectic thursday!
With two new younger ones joining this week!
Emma took them down the 'black box' only to tell them, if had turned into a spaceship!?
With our space suits on, and Jay as the spaceship driver, we set off to find life on mars!
We saw shootings stars, scarey aliens, big planets and monkey scientists!
After seeing all these fantastic new things, we thought that maybe it was time to go home, so we landed the ship, and in came the older group.
After, as someone put it, 'homework' was set last week, this week was to share ideas they had come up with for a short piece in the cabaret show.
The main idea being thrown around was fantasy and NYMPHS! as Sam kept repeating she wanted to do!
Half way through the telegraph came and took photo, so look out for that, in the up coming week!
With a game of alphabet word assoiciation to end the night, it was time to go home, and prepare for the antics and delights of the talent show tomorrow

Thirty Three Days...
... OR
33days 13hours 25mins and 7secs
at the time of press.
So with just over a month to go before we all head off to JAPAN
everyone seems to be trying to get in there last minute fundraising, that last £200,
or for some, the full whack :\
There's been lots going on, and it hasn't been all fun and games to raise the amount of money we need to get there,
Actually, it really has :)
Many a night has been spent playing bingo, swapping clothes, playing stack a cups, and having a good time,
and many a day persuading the locals to sponsor you, carbooting, packing bags in morrisons and riding horses around fields :)
The travel arrangements have been made, so all that’s left to do for most is to buy new holiday clothes [which, in my opinion, is the best part of preparing], get their money in and turn up on the day!
Remember the various fundraisers going on in the next few weeks,
Talent show, quiz night, mini triathlon, bike ride, cake selling on Wednesday night.
And the meeting on the 14th, be there.

Thursday Nights at Lindsey School
Last Thursday, me and Emma started the Thursday classes at Lindsey School.
From 4.30 till 5.30 the younger group and 6 till 7.30 was the older lot!
A walk down the hallway and a point to the sign, one of them shouts out 'the black box?' the room we'd be working in.
With the regular Bethany and two new younger ones we had the theme 'animals' and played lots of games. They seem to like Grandma's footsteps pretending to be bones, and fountains of water. After a hectic hour of running about and acting as an alligator, they went home, with tired eyes I might add.
With half an hour to spare, a good pasta salad, and some of those new walkers crisps were in order.
And the next group arrived, to me, they were all new and fresh faces!
We had a go at the eye contact game across the circle, and all of a sudden everyone took to it. With loads of silly faces and walks, also arms flying eveywhere, it was great to see how confident these people were.
After that we worked on freeze frames with all different titles, from cinderella to a robbery.
To end the night Scott played the chair game, and everyone seemed to be cheating! haha, but it seemed like they all enjoyed themselves.
I can't wait for this Thursday to see what happens.
Charli:)

2009....so far!
WELL! There has been a lot going on and it's only March!
Here are a few summary updates:
JAPAN
Flights are booked, hotel is booked, just organising activities and other events for the trip. Have decided to focus on creating a piece of theatre together based on the Japanese culture and also a photography exhibition to bring back home. We will be setting off from Grimsby on 6th April and returning on the 21st. There are 18 of us travelling including junior, senior and associate members of FYT! Fundraising has been pretty successful, with recent car boots sales, quiz nights coming up and cake sales everywhere.
CABARET
The Cabaret pieces are looking VERY promising, the show includes mime, dance, scripted work, devised comedy and loads more! It will be a fantastic show. We also have two new members recently, Lois and Levi who have got stuck in and seem to be enjoying themselves!
CHOMP
We had our SFX make up workshop with Danny last week, it was great fun. The group learned about applying different types of make up to get different zombie effects. Meanwhile, Jack is on with the music and we have pretty much got Act 1 sorted now - just lines to be learned! Bill Ilkley is working with us tomorrow night to teach some professional stage combat techniques for the fight scenes. The costumes are well ahead of schedule and our Design team are amazing! The set will be fab. The tour is pretty much sorted now, just waiting for Edinburgh to get back to us about a venue - fingers crossed.
CLEETHORPES - LINDSEY SCHOOL
Our new group started at Lindsey School on Thursday! It went really well and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We still have places left though - so get phoning in and booking onto the workshops! The group will be joining our Grimsby teams for the Cabaret show in June.
